Expertise

Litigation & Insolvency

Thorp Alberga has extensive experience of civil and cross border litigation across all practice areas. We have particular expertise in:

  • Commercial and corporate disputes – we have wide ranging experience of acting for and against investors, creditors, banks and insurance companies in a wide range of contract and tort claims.
  • Trusts litigation – we have experience of advising trustees, beneficiaries, protectors and other participants within trust structures on a wide variety of contentious matters relating to the constitution and administration of all types of trusts, including in respect of breach of trust, abuse of investment or administrative powers, fraud and asset tracing, and probate disputes.
  • Contentious and non-contentious insolvency proceedings – we can advise liquidators or other court appointed officials, companies, their directors and shareholders, and investors, lenders and other creditors on winding up, liquidation and striking off proceedings, as well as advising on broader insolvency issues. We have substantial experience of restructuring transactions, including schemes of arrangement. We also work closely with our Finance and Investment Management team on transactions involving distressed debt and distressed funds.
  • Real estate and personal injury litigation.

In addition, we can offer to our clients involved in litigation the benefit of a long standing close working relationship with a leading set of Chambers at the London Bar. See Wilberforce Chambers
