Practice areas
Michael, a former President of the Cayman Islands Law Society, has developed a broad practice during his 30 years as a Cayman Islands attorney, including corporate commercial law, real estate, banking, mutual funds, partnership law, government relations, local licensing and labour laws, and aircraft and shipping. Michael advises on the formation of trusts and ongoing duties of trustees, and is a widely published author of articles on many aspects of Cayman Islands law.
Education and Career
Michael graduated from University of the West Indies in 1975, was admitted as an attorney in the Cayman Islands in 1978 and has been practicing as an attorney at law ever since. He was made a partner of McDonald Myers & Alberga in 1981, which became Myers & Alberga in 1985. Michael was elected President of the Cayman Islands Law Society from 1994 to 1997, and has sat as a member of a number of public and private committees which have developed various laws and regulations pertaining to the financial industry.
