Richard’s career in the law has spanned thirty years as a partner of Clifford Chance LLP, based in London. In 1981 he founded the firm’s Singapore office which he managed for the ensuing seven years. He retired from the firm in 2006.

For over four years until 2011 he was a non-executive director (and chairman of the audit, remuneration and compliance committee) with a debt asset management subsidiary of Mizuho Corporate Bank.
